The 6th Autumn DDGS Conference
September 17 2015 Tianjin China
With the Chinese economy slowing down, domestic feed demand has softened significantly. Consequently, abundance in supply of agriculture products prompted DDGS prices to drop from RMB 2400/MT in January 2015, to new lows at RMB 1900/MT. Large volumes of DDGS has been arriving China since this April creating surplus DDGS supply and pushing prices lower.
China is also by far the world’s largest sorghum importer. In 2014/2015, China purchased 7.41 million metric tons (MMT) from the USA, 1.2 MMT from Australia, and over 0.5MMT from Argentina; totaling over 9MMT, a doubled volume growth from previous year.
With high rate of changes in the market and conditions of China import grains today, staying up-to-speed with full grasp of market information and trends is crucial to facilitate effective and productive trades.
Challenges and questions to be covered at the Conference:
- When will be the upward turning point for DDGS prices under the influence falling soybean meal prices?
- What is the prospect of DDGS import and price trend in the near future?
- With abundant world grains and oilseeds supplies and aggressive price competition, what used to be a seller’s market may shift to a buyer’s market. How will this shift influence and change negotiations of trade terms?
- China’s sorghum and barley import volumes have grown substantially. Will these products become regular corn replacers?
- How to manage risks of DDGS price dramatic ups and downs?
